G2 Cannon vs. G2 Pulse

Postby uvelius » Fri Mar 06, 2015 8:02 am

Out of curiosity: How big is the difference between G1 and G2 cannons, and the efficiency compared to G2 Pulses? Not regarding the aiming aspect. Heat and energy usage for a Cobra.

So, does a G1 Cannon / G2 Pulse loadout do have bigger impact / is it more efficient than vice versa, G1 Pulse / G2 Cannon?

On my Cobra I have 2 class 2 Cannons because they are on the front mount and close together . (I use fixed ones for the fun...)
I used to have 2 gimballed class 1 pulse lasers on the wings mountings and they did a good job (replaced them later by beam lasers)

I had class 1 cannons on my Eagle before and the class 2 make a lot more damage. For instance it takes 3 shots for an Adder once the shields are down.

Cannons must be fired at close range because of their low velocity. They are more difficult to use against small targets like Sideys or Eagles, but then I just fry them with the beams.

Due to the damage reduction of smaller weapons against larger ships, I suspect that the loadout with the larger cannons will be better against big ships and the loadout with larger lasers will be better against smaller ships.

The real way to find out is to try it for yourself.
