Ohh that's interesting. Is this the first attempt to bring the mac users into the PC users galaxy? I think it must be.

Sounds more like bringing the Mac and PC users together in a temporary mixed galaxy.

There's a post on the main Forum for Mac users that their client is being updated to allow cross platform. Questions raised about when PC users will be seeing the cross platform test. The answer is "soon"

Normal beta procedure in process.......You start with a sidey and 100000 Crs......Ships cost 100 Cr's

Currently stripping type 9's and looking for an FDL.......Up to 20 mill so far...But can't find an FDL.....

Before I venture into open and welcome our mac friends....And possibly protect them against arsehole griefers.....

Guessing this means they're reasonably happy with the mac state and maybe doing 1.3 Beta as x-platform....

Why early? As you say, if the MAC beta is pretty stable it would make sense to get everyone on the new code base asap as there are bound to be a bucket load of fixes as well as the new features. Key fix being the caching of shaders to help with stuttering.
I would say get everyone on the new BETA early and start finding those bugs in a hurry.
