Anaconda ENG 5 FSD roll: Good or average?

Postby uvelius » Mon Oct 17, 2016 9:48 pm

A question to all Anaconda owners with upgraded FSDs: Since the jump range itself does not tell much about the actual quality of the engineered drive (the actual numbers depend on the loadout), I would be interested in your experience with grade 5 FSD rolls. I got:
Mass: +34,6% (well, should be bad, does it matter for jump range?)
Integrity: -24,6% (doesn't matter for jump range)
Power Draw +21,3% (doesn't matter for jump range)
Opt. Mass: +47,3%
Max. Fuel per Jump: +2,1%.

Which grants me, accoring to Functions tab (outfitting seems to be bugged?) 37,53 ly @ full tank/40.11 ly max with a near-completely fitted Conda (full hardpoints and Utilites etc).

What about your rolls? Are the stats above good or would it be better to do the RNG dance again?

Edit for comparison. My Rasp (with some 30 rolls) got Mass: +41%, Optimal Mass +52,4 and has a max jump range of 52 ly with a Rat outfitting that is very close to optimal to maxed range.

I would apply that, both the optimal mass boost and the increase in max fuel injection does way more than the 12t increase in the drives weight.

Yes it might be technically possibly to get a better one, but that would work.

The increase in optimized mass is the most important factor for jump range, IMO. Since you got 47%, you are close to the top of the range (which has a max of 50%). With secondary effects it could go above 50% but the odds are not favorable for getting rolls higher than 50%. I'd apply it, be happy and move on.

I had a so-so FSD roll on my Vette than I ran with for a while. It was about 44-45%. When I went to Elvira to roll the dice again over the weekend, I got a 51% roll. Increased my jump range by 1.5 ly. Sounds decent, right? My trip to Elvira with the old roll was 22 jumps. The trip back with the 49% roll was.... wait for it.... 21 jumps.

Whoopy friggin do.

The moral of the story is that unless you are going to go on a long exploration trip, a few percentage points give or take on a FSD roll really isn't going to matter.

The conda has a great jump range when fitted for weight.
But a few modules when fitted to their non d, max class drops it quickly.

Especially the class 8 power distributor and power plant almost half's it.
In fact a conda fitted for bear is not that far better in jump rangethan a corvette.

Thanks, I think I will stick to it then. Thanks JohnLuke for comparing your rolls. The Power Distributor and PP is a pain for sure, Tor ... even a Low Emission PP with less mass does not do much there.

@All: Please supply the actual percentages of your rolls (you find them when clicking on Engineering Details of the FSD in Outfitting). The jump range by itself is, as said, not a helpful measurement since it varies much too much with the loadouts.

Personally, I'd take that one probably if I didn't have something with that range, but I'd also probably keep rolling for better. The weight is kind of a bummer on the stats, but it is nice that a lot of it went from power. If you're doing mostly long distance travel rather than fighting, then power needs are likely to not be so bad.

Pretty sure the ENG 4 roll I have on my conda right now has a better optimal mass, but I got a lucky bonus proc on optimal mass that made my roll a really hard one to replace.
