Why are close RES points that important? I thought, at least in 1.2, that if you got a "good" RES (big ships) you didn't want to leave. If you left, it'd reset.
It seems the same in 1.3, at least from my experience playing tonight.
Having a station sub 1 ls from RES means you are mere seconds away from rearm/repair and paying off fines. Having a large gap between station and RES adds up a lot of time flying back and forth as well as increasing the chance of inderdiction. If your ship is severely damaged, having that station nearby can potentially save millions of credits.
Once you got at least 1 local faction to hostile in 1.2, the chances of a 'good' RES became near 100%.
Before 1.3, I found it possible to make 2.5-3 million credits per hour RES farming. I did this to accrue enough credits to cover insurance several times over when I wanted to do actual stuff in the game. I could have simply traded in a Type 9 or Anaconda, but I find that trading kills my interest in this game. Fortunately, smuggling sounds really interesting now.
Before 1.3, I added the first Anarchy System to the OP, LP 98-132. It wasn't special in 1.2, but now that RES have been revamped, this Anarchy system may be the best RES I know of. Freeport is essentially a ghetto starport with flickering lights, but it doesn't have a speed limit or those silly laws that other systems do.
It only has 2 RES that border each other. Freeport can come as close to ~15 Mm to the RES. The large planet means the potential for a long night :/
I'll be parking my fighter here for now. I get the feeling that Anarchy systems will become much more popular.
edit: this place is great! feels like 1.2. If you do not have strong shields, you will perish quickly. I'm happy to wing up with any visitors! This place doesn't have any security presence. High Tech system, Asellus Primus is 5.78 ly away.
Happy hunting!
