Hello,
Was this the CG location?
I was having trouble with the matchmaking server yesterday morning. My detailed surface scans took a really Long time to resolve. When I tried jumping to another system the client lost connection to the server. Happened twice. After awhile everything went back to normal again.

Currently 12k ly from Azrael, trying to cross the Formidine Rift. Hope to find something interesting after crossing it. But with so many systems to scan I doubt I'll find anything pertaining to the mystery.

BTW. Anyone know how to get Elite Dangerous: Rclamation for the kindle. I only found the audio book on Amazon. Is the ebook on the publisher's website a PDF or do we need a separate reader? Thanks.

Have fun, fly safe. o7

Yes, this is the CG, the servers are really struggling because we're having a good crowd over there and massive mayhem on the RES sites. ^.^

Wilkes' CG(s): There's a lot of (pun)"instances"(pun) going around ...

Logged in just now and I was in the station, no not like in a dock, but inside the structure with one small slot to fly threw to get back out into space, the station rotation was beating the crap out of me, lost my shields losing my hull found a spot to stop, got my shield back up, and hilariously got the message to "carry On commander" after a scan.......... I'm trying dam it... :x ... I did get out with a bit more pounding, hope the station has some gold paint this is not going to buff out.

but I screwed up no screen shots...........

The Odd-Couple(ings)

BTW, I'm now using what I call my [Config 103M] Sub-class, A-spec Python (related thread), especially since I have a question about those 5A Thrusters and being under the optimal weight.

I'm still a noob compared to most other CMDRs, but slowly increasing my ranks and credits.

The Galactic Sausage?

After this latest set of CGs, I'm thinking of heading 1,500ly outward, towards what I'm calling the "Galactic Sausage" after CMDR Hardy pointed it out to me.

Quick emergency course in manually reverse parking the cutter. No idea what spooked the DC inside the bay, but it did not move, and the clock was ticking down. While I know about the emergency undock trick, I tried it the "real" way, and it worked. Loosing 11,3 million in rebuy and 8 million in cargo would have been seriously unfunny.

I used to swear by docking computers, just out of laziness. I still have absolutely nothing against laziness, mind you. I've since given them up just to allow more cargo or other modules. If it had a dedicated slot like the planetary landing suite or power distributor, you better believe I'd still use a docking computer.

Now, having said that, particularly on the Cutter, I've noticed it get stuck/confused/overwhelmed or something several times. I'd have to shut it off and finish the landing manually, as it just kept ramming the little control tower by my pad, or drifting over a totally different pad (enough to get me a loitering warning).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but computers have been able to dock space capsules with the ISS for decades now, so I find it a bit silly that a docking computer in 3302 is struggling so much. :-)

On the smaller ships, I have been using the DC as a loo break provider. Request docking permission, hit X, and when you return, the ship is on the pad. The only issues were during CGs, when you were "waiting in queue" for minutes, until you flew through the slot manually and then handed off once inside the bay.

Not with the cutter, after watching the very first landing. Since then, I had a couple dozen funny issues with the DC on the cutter during the CGs over the last two weeks, and the other cutter commanders I met in game were in the same boat. Some rather nice ranting session ensued, with "made by the lowest bidder" and "4k DC on a 220M ship, should have known this will be trouble" , "it's the thargoids, I tell you" featuring frequently ;-)

In the same time, there was one case of a DC on a Anaconda doing funny things. Cutters? Every player, several times a day. The NPC debris that piles up in the stations looks to be one causes, the NPC traffic jams are another. Especially when the stations clears them by blowing the NPCs up. I really need to take the time and assemble a blooper reel from the CGs. I only to find a tool to blend out the other commander's names, I have no problem with showing people what a bad pilot I can be, others might not find it funny.

On a more serious note: if you check the 2.1 beta 1 change logs, you will find that they specifically mention improvements to the reliability of the DC on the cutter. Not on all ships, just the cutter. There is a reason for that.

Probably. It's been months since I had a docking computer on a ship... hell, until this weekend, it had been 2 or 3 months since I played Elite. Such breaks will happen again.

But yes, it seemed like my ship was suddenly possessed by Casper, the doesn't-read-at-grade-level Ghost.

Yep, it is definitely "special" on the Cutter. Honestly though, the ship isn't that terrible to dock, once you get the hang of it. Except on high-gravity worlds. F high-gravity worlds in the Cutter, man.
