Pulse or Beam?

Postby Manny72 » Wed Feb 11, 2015 7:52 am

Quick question, Pulse or Beam lasers, what is best to you think? I currently use Beam Lasers for dropping shields, then use Multi-Cannons for hull damage, but seeing video's, would I bet better with 4 Pulse Lasers?

the new heat models do hardly allow beam lasers...except if your heat dissapation is good. Do a few pulse with multicannons (i still advocate full multicannon setup though)

I have two fixed beam lasers and two gimbaled multi-cannons on my Asp. Had a few fights, yesterday evening, and I didn't run into any heat problem.

I"m in a cobra at the moment, still a while till I get my Asp back. I usually use 2 beam and 2 mc.

Me too, both sets gimballed because I'm a lousy shot. Spent an couple of hours in a RES last night with only one overheating warning, which is much less than I was expecting following the balance in 1.1, so I'm keeping this setup (until they change it again!).

I read that the Pulse Lasers do more hull damage than Beam Lasers, can anyone confirm (or dispel) this?

Well, I had two gimballed beams paired with 2 cannons. Lots of overheating in nav beacon sector ( closer to sun), especially against anacondas. So I dropped it and have 1 pulse, 1 beam and 2 cannons. Works like a charm.
