It's a simple choice really my young friend. What does your heart tell you? Which is a better world for you and your family? A world of order, or a world of chaos?

Every choice has a consequence. You can live by the "might is right" code, and hope that you stay strong enough to take what you believe is yours for the rest of your life.

Or you can choose to live in the knowledge, that for everyone to prosper, the individual must make sacrifices.

You heard it all before. The greater good versus freedom. Control versus freedom.

What you must realize is that freedom, as a word and as a concept, is a ruse made by those "with might" to intoxicate weaker minds into believing that they are special. That they are more important than their neighbour. That the individual is more important than the human race as a whole.

Which it of course is not. With insight comes responsibility. If you care for the future of your loved ones, be they weak or strong, you will fight until your dying breath for the greater good of mankind. Anything else is shallow and short sighted, only aimed at personal gaines.

Fight for the Federation.

Ok. Let me say a little bit more about where I stand.
I think no better of the Empire. Or that debating club calling itself the Alliance.
I believe in true freedom. Every system has the fundamental right to decide for itself which government they want and which greater organisation to join if at all.
Eranin chose independence. The Federation, in this case, has no right to interfere.

Oh, and I also fight for the one paying the best.

As Kharma said, you need to follow your own path. However, since you asked, here's my take on it.

The Eranin system is in a state of civil war. It's an internal struggle that I feel should be left for their people to sort out.
The Federation has blatantly sent forces in to support the rebels. Normally I would back the Feds, because in the final game, reputation with the Federation will have more impact on the rest of my time in space. They own far greater systems than the Eranins do. But since this is Beta, and no one (like, oh let's say, the Empire) is jumping in to help the current government, I have decided to fight against the Federations involvement in the whole situation. The local government is going to need all the help they can get.

I have no doubt that the rebels will win mind you. I have dispatched literally hundreds of federation ships in the past two days, but their numbers never seem to dwindle. There seems to be an endless supply of Federal fighters jumping into the Distress Signal Zone. But win or loose, I will sleep better during REM cycles knowing I at least tried to do what I believed to be the right thing.

CHOICE -- That's what being a member of the Elite Federation of Pilots is all about. We have the freedom to choose a career path. We can choose to be a hero or a villain. The EFP doesn't judge, it only records, collates and presents us with job opportunities. It is an independent organisation built on choice.

So as EFP members, isn't the logical course of action then the one that affords us the greastest choice?

If Eranin falls to the Federation, it takes a portion of our choice with it.

It will become Federation jurisdiction. Which means if you're wanted in Federation space, there'll be no welcome for you there.

But if Eranin remains independent, the only system you'd have to worry about an Eranin jurisdiction bounty is...Eranin. You could literally fly to ANY other system and clear a bounty you picked up in Eranin space. If Eranin was a Federation system though, a bounty incurred there would make travel to hundreds of systems a potential nightmare.

So...potential bounty trouble in one system vs trouble in hundreds...hmm...

For the sake of ALL our fellow Elite Federation of Pilots members there is only one desirable outcome : helping Eranin to retain its independence will also help us to retain ours!
