It's not exactly powered off. When you select a module, you can press your Select key three times for these three different states:

- Enable
- Repair
- Disable

When you set a module to Repair, it's gonna be done but it takes some time. Also, the Auto Field-maintenance Unit uses some kind of ammo, so you have to restock the next time you dock. And finally, not everything can be repaired. IIRC, the canopy and the hull can't.

OK, dumb question time as I'm trying to go through this module listing in my head (not at home), what does IIRC stand for?

Just made my way into the favour of the people of Alioth and now they will let me visit them without threat of a jail term. To celebrate I've switched ships and have now left human occupied space, taken me about three quarters of an hour to find somewhere no-one else has visited.

Oh, ok, makes sense. I was thinking it was some sort of system I couldn't "recall" at this time. :-)

Well, it seems I have just had my backside handed to me by "Gen. Costa" in a Federal Dropship vs my humble little old Cobra ... cursed "Federal Naval Progression Opportunity" missions!

Good challenging fight (for me anyway, using just KBM controls). Managed to break away and escape with a blown canopy and 6% hull, limping back to the nearest station on oxygen. Rather glad i very recently upgraded life support to give me 15 mins oxygen! Then some NPC pest tried interdicting me 100ls from the station I was aiming for. Thankfully a submit, FAoff, duck & dive, boost and jump worked. Back to the station with a minute to spare, and a 14K repair bill.

Quite fun, however I think I will go do a bit more relaxing trading before trying that again :)

Edit [Thursday 19/02/2015]: Got 'im, ha!
Note to self: bigger guns work nicely at times! Now to do some Rares trading to recoup costs.

I'm just trading. Upgraded to an Asp the other day and now working on upgrading the components... but the A stuff costs millions, so it takes time.

Day 25 - Daimler Station in LP 967-1 system

Finally left my home in Eravate.

On my way to Lave, traded some goods on the way ( small profits but enough to pay for expenses ) practiced fuel scooping and a couple bounties also ( one fight as I was leaving a station, I helped the Cops - second one a crazy Eagle with 2 pulse lasers interdicted my brand new Cobra with mean burst lasers and MCs :)) Fitted an A3 Power Distributor with the profits of the day.

Didn't meet anyone.

Bountyhunting tired me a little, shooting Wanteds for hours and hours working on my Combat rank, and with 1400 killed still just Expert. So I decided to store my Viper and got me a Type-6 that I equipped for trading, but also shields, some pew-pew-lazers and an A4 FSD. With that ship I now do some rares-trading Witchhaul-Altair-Zaonce-Witchhaul that gives 2mill profit each roundtrip, reducing the running cost with fuelscoop and advanced system scanner. But man, that Type-6 flies like a bus, I'm already starting to miss my agile Viper. Just a few more roundtrips and I'm ready to advance to an ASP, thats my next goal. :)

When you set the module to repair, it is switched off (easy to verify with shields or life support), but you can switch modules off (= disable) so that they're not in the repair queue too.

Powerplant can't be repaired by the maintenance unit. Oh, and the unit can't repair itself - haven't checked if the unit can be repaired by another one.
