The description for the sensors in the outfitting implies that there is an improvement in targetting, but nothing more concrete than that.

I'll try that out when I get back to civilisation, I'm sure the targets on my Asp are less accurate than my Cobra, the Cobra does have A rated sensors while I believe the Asp has D.

Do sensors have a noticeable impact on Gimbaled weapon performance?

Apparently it has been confirmed by the devs somewhere that sensors have no impact on gimballed weapons.

yep sensors have an impact on what range you can resolve enemies at, i.e. how far away you can identify them - nothing more.

I have experienced with different quality sensors and looking for effects on gimballed and turreted weapons. I have seen no difference in effectiveness.
