CHOICE -- That's what being a member of the Elite Federation of Pilots is all about. We have the freedom to choose a career path. We can choose to be a hero or a villain. The EFP doesn't judge, it only records, collates and presents us with job opportunities. It is an independent organisation built on choice.

So as EFP members, isn't the logical course of action then the one that affords us the greastest choice?

If Eranin falls to the Federation, it takes a portion of our choice with it.

It will become Federation jurisdiction. Which means if you're wanted in Federation space, there'll be no welcome for you there.

But if Eranin remains independent, the only system you'd have to worry about an Eranin jurisdiction bounty is...Eranin. You could literally fly to ANY other system and clear a bounty you picked up in Eranin space. If Eranin was a Federation system though, a bounty incurred there would make travel to hundreds of systems a potential nightmare.

So...potential bounty trouble in one system vs trouble in hundreds...hmm...

For the sake of ALL our fellow Elite Federation of Pilots members there is only one desirable outcome : helping Eranin to retain its independence will also help us to retain ours!

I have another argument too, this one a little more philosophical...

Eranin itself IS Elite!

Think about it : Eranin is celebrating its 30th anniversary of independence from the Federation. The very fact that it is celebrating is angering the Federation who is seeking to reabsorb this troublemaker and drown its lone voice.

With me so far? Good....

Now think of Elite the GAME

Elite is celebrating its 30th anniversary "hey, what a coincidence! ). Elite was a ground-breaking, anti-establishment game. As DB so often says, it didn't have 3 lives and you couldn't complete it in 10 minutes, so the publishers didn't want to know. Skip forward 30 years - Elite Dangerous is the result of a community funded project. It is not a mainstream game, it is (once again) the kind of game today's publishers would be hesitant to handle. And yet the game is a success. The publishers are wondering how this has happened - how can it be that a game that isn't Call of Duty or Angry Birds is proving so popular?

See where I'm going with this?

Symbolically, Eranin IS Elite. Heck, it's even a communist system - rather coincidental for a community backed project, don't you think?

So, if you back the Federation, you're in league with the soulless publishers like EA who would turn their noses up at a game like Elite.
However, if you back Eranin, you are stating clearly that you support independent game makers and the voice of gamers in crowdfunded projects.
