LTT 18486 is a great area to RES in, it hosts the gold mafia pirates and both stations orbit ringed gas giants, boswell i think is lt is is the only repair station though. I posted a picture on mobius fb page showing what i made in an hour. 2.7 mil for federation. 600k for empire. 500k for alliance and a few 100k's for a few local factions.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but every time I look for wanted ships I can never find them, res or nav sites. I've been to a few different systems too. :?:

Nanosmo - One thing to do that I didn't know starting out is stick around in the RES/NAV site for awhile and sometimes fly away from the actual "nodes". I've found that new waves of battles start breaking out a little later or farther away (as AI spawn in) so it pays to fly about and hold out sometimes. That said a couple of updates ago they did make RES sites not have endless spawns but you should still be able to get a good number of "wanted" guys if you keep looking, especially if the system is Anarchy (outfit your KWS for extra creds too).

My first BH experience was sitting at the Nav Beacon in normal space, not Supercruise, and just cycling through ships that blast in and scanning them. Made me about 100-200k an hour, sometimes I got lucky and got in on the Feds taking down an Anaconda or something and that was 100K+ in itself....

Not sure if a KWS is better at scanning but the way I was doing it was targeting the ship, putting it in front of me and just waiting the 5 seconds or so for the scan to finish and it would tell me if they were wanted. Then I would check the Contacts tab to see their bounty and determine if they were worth going after. 200c wasn't worth my time lol :P

A KWS will get you bounties in other systems......

If the normal scanner is showing say 7000...And you're in Fed space...That's all you will get....

A KWS will get you the 7000 in fed space and any bounty in Empire and Alliance space should there be any.....

Also a KWS scan on a clean ship will show you if he is wanted in other systems......

You do have to claim these bounties in their systems though.........

And if you're in an anarchy system, all the ship will read clean and only the KWS will show you which ones are actually wanted somewhere.

Finally found a few!

And of course a Security ship had to fly in front of me and I hit him, then all the sudden the whole scanner goes red and I'm on everybody's hit list. I really wish they would fix that. Makes me have to run away...

They have fixed that, thankfully. But, depending on your weapons you can still aggro security or clean ships. I myself use Beams to strip shields off ships before hitting them with Multi-Cannons and Cannons. A sustained impact from Beams can trigger aggro response, the Multi-Cannons can get away with couple of hits, but the Cannons, just a single shot on Security or Clean triggers bad bad Aggro because of the amount of damage. It's now more a case of being aware of what is flying into your line of fire and giving a pause on the trigger, though you will always get the ones that pass right in front of your canopy and there is no way to avoid that one.

The level and power of your weapons have an impact too, I think (if I remember correctly) it's based on if they targeted (instant response), non-targeted (non instant response) but then based on caliber of weapon hitting ship, duration of impact (mainly to do with beam weapons) and finally amount of damage done.

So with Multi-Cannons they are a cumulative damage effect, so a passing shot won't do much to them, Beams are Sustained impact and if ship passing across your beams they could be hit for up to 2 seconds, that's a long time really and will severely deplete their shields, the Cannons, they can do up to 20% damage on a system..why I target Power Plant, Cannons will punch through the hull on either side of ship and hit it.

So...yeah, there you go.
I always show my face... I'm old and I got over it. :D

Sic Transit Gloria Mondi, ah?
Seriously now, RES farming, is hard work:
1. Damn asteroids get in your way, and if the RES is far from the star, or the star is a dim red/brown dwarf than it's also dark. Boost into an asteroid, game over, do not pass go, do not collect cash...Happend to me couple of days ago.
2. Not all RES are born equal, the more civilized the system (Fed or empire) the pirate are usually low bounty. Best RES sites are in anarchy so you need a KWS.
3. You might instance into a RES with no action, or with so much security craft it's hard to get a shot into a pirate without getting a wanted status for hitting a "friendly".

But when all is right, and the godess of luck favors you...Cha ching :D ~300k cr in 20min
Log in, drop into a RES, Stumble on a Master conda right off the bat, followed by Python and some cobras. Did I mention I'm using an A grade Vulture

Happy hunting!

Greetings

I'm not here to brag simply because I am not currently satisfied with my current trade route; Having said that however, 300k for 20 minutes is not an efficient use of my time. My trade route is a 17.5ly jump between two systems. I buy at ONE and sell at the other, rinse and repeat. So for 6 minutes of my time (guesstimate) undocking/frameshifting/redocking, I make 1.28 million in profit.

Now, I love combat, it's what I first started doing in this game. But trading gave me more money, and allowed me to get into my Anaconda.

Had I tried to get my 150+ mil (I bought my Anaconda at a 15% discount) just doing combat, I wouldn't have it right now.

Do I enjoy trading as much as I enjoy blowing stuff up? Hell no. But I like bigger and better ships. I put a movie on while I'm raking in the money. Still hunting for a better trade route as well.

Hello,

Tried hitting a couple of RES sites (low and high intensity) sometime ago, but was not so lucky. Only managed to snag 1 pirate. Finally decided to give up and hit the CZs again.

Easier to spot the enemy, and they keep constantly spawning. Vulture (gimballed burt + gimablled cannon = 1+ mil cr per hour or less if I'm lucky), Asp (2 gimballed beams + 4 cannons = 1+ mil per hour, if I don't get blown up in the 1st 10 mins), Imp Courier (2 bursts + 1 multi-canon = 600k per hour) in CZs. So far in my Python I've only tried CZs 3 times. The last run netted me 600k in 30 mins. But during the second run nearly got wiped. Lady Jayne is not outfitted for CZs, yet.

Might try RES sites again soon, since now I'm not in a rush to make cash. Seems more interesting to fly around asteroids.

Have fun. Fly safe.

P.S.: How do you make 1+ mil in 6 mins? My Python only has 224T of cargo, most I can make in a 2 leg jump (fully loaded she only does about 14.5+ly) is 300+k.
