CMDR Byker and I tested out some wing features. Nav-locking each other worked well. We could both take the lead and the other would follow. Just make sure if you are leading that your wingmen have cyan brackets around them before jumping so that everyone is in range. We didn't get interdicted, so that wasn't tested.

When CMDR Byker jumped into the system I was in local space. I set my wing beacon and he could select it from the contact list. We had a problem though where he jumped into the RES we couldn't see each other. This will need more testing.

***edit***
I got CMDR Byker confused with the npc the Vegan Bikker.

Yup, fun little session again, despite a distinct lack of any meaty targets and crashing into an invisible asteroid at the end lol... the first instance when we couldn't see each other was a bit weird, I logged out and back in again and it still didnt work, then we both headed back to the station and on launch there he was... I think the instancing still needs a bit of work, but largely its pretty good, and I love the voice comms effects, apart from being a teeny bit too quiet, its a nice touch.

On the Nav Lock feature, you can only nav lock one player, so I suppose that means either having a 'wing leader' who makes all the navigation decisions, or chaining (1->2, 2->3, 3->4, 4->1) so anyone can 'lead' should work I think?

I think I'd like to have a go at a Anaconda Assassin mission soon; the money's not really worth it, but it'd be fun to coordinate an attack with some of you, I know I'm useless on my own.

Anyway, fun times,
Byker

Have you tried in your audio controls to set commander's voice to maximum and music & sound effects down? That makes voice comms louder and you just have to set your volume a little louder when playing alone. I'd also suggest turning off annoying computer messages that you've heard thousands of times.

I wasn't going to bring up the bit about the invisible asteroid, but the RES started spawning Clippers and Pythons.
It's time to give this another go.

I think you can, with drive slaving or something, no? Needs testing, happy to oblige whenever I see any of you out there!

Yup, we tried it weeks ago with moderate success. When I joined the wing yesterday I noticed you weren't using it so when we changed RES sites there was a bit of guessing involved. I suggest that we do play with the wingman nav-lock feature and get it figured out.

IIRC, this is what happened last time. We had a wing leader and 2 wingmen. The wingmen nav-locked onto the wing leader. When the wing leader would enter SC, the wingmen would follow, assuming they were close enough - so keep up & stay close. The problem we had was that if a wingman got interdicted, the others wouldn't exit SC with him and we had a hard time finding him. Also, if you didn't stay close in SC, you might not follow the wing leader out of SC, or you'd have to search for the wake & target it to join the wing in local space.

***EDIT** maybe the "leader" doesn't need to be out front. Maybe if we are all just close enough the nav-lock will work. Something to test. ***

I suggest that we try it again but see if everyone can nav-lock everybody else. That way anybody can take the lead & the others will follow. For example, if you are physically ahead of the other players in local space, it makes sense for you to lead to the next location - or at least lead the way into SC. And hopefully, if anybody gets interdicted, we will all be pulled out of SC together. That's the way wings should work!

Also, if we are all nav-locked to each other, and in SC one of us spots something interesting, or gets to the new site first, they can lead the rest out of SC into local space. Anyway, that's some stuff to experiment with.

Super thx brother, good stuff, good stuff !

Hunting scum-bags (Wing)

At first thought, I have no interest in open play and have sworn it off.

On second thought, it might be nice to be in a wing and hunt down the top bounties in the system, as I am sure that they are grieffer scum.

On third thought, the grieffer scum are certainly a lot more skilled by grieffing all the human players instead of dumbass NPCs. That's not too bad if it's 2, 3, or 4 against 1, but I bet they are playing in wings too for self-protection, which wouldn't be fun. So I think I'll pass.

Found this interesting thread on reddit titled The Alliance is under Attack - Will you stand with us?

http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/ ... tand_with/

Quite interesting since it's not THAT far away and the CODE had two members come into mobius not that long ago and pirated players, killed several and gloated about it on the FD forums.

I'm going to check out the are in the next couple of days, make sure the Alliance stays strong.
