Cheers for that. Made my day. I remember wanting this kind of super speed tape drive for the BBC that had higher baud rates (I'm not that techie but remember the ads in my Dad's 'The Micro User' magazine) but can't remember what it was called. Elite seemed to take about 10 minutes to load on cassette, but that was probably my impatience.

The good old ZX eh? When you consider the demands of the original Elite it's amazing what all those '80's Home Computers could do. I wonder if the Dragon 32 ran it.

I was too skint to shell out for disks back in the day - though my dad used to get me to buy them for him from the American P/X.

Cassettes were the way for me - cheap(ish) and reliable!

I still have a Speccy - not my original 48k, though, I have now upgraded to the 128k with a built in cassette! 8-)

By the way, I've been after "The Great Escape" for the Speccy for years, so if anyone has it or knows where to get one, I'd be grateful!

I can't help you with, assuming this is what you are after, an original, but have you tried an emulated version like this:

Apologies if you've already been down this route.

Thanks - I will give it a look.

I do have a larger number of emulated titles than I have time to try out (or even look through all the lists of hundreds of games) but it's always better on the real thing! :D

There's some very useful info on that site.

Great!

I have two A1200's but I don't have Elite on them (usually too busy playing Galaga on them, anyway!). I'll have to look around for it.
