I was about to throw down for one, but they just announced the release next year... so I wait. It seems like forever this technology has been talked about, always outside of my reach financially... now that I'm all grown up and my bills are paid I'm ready! ...next year...

Joy :D The Oculus came today. After farting about for hours I have managed to get the thing working. The Demo works perfectly. I have it set up as an extended display. I am now stuck on how to get it to work with Elite. I switch to secondary monitor in the graphic options menu. It's still giving that double image thing. I've ran out of ideas :(

Does the Oculus include a voice mic and headphones?

i have dk 1 + 2.
ED havent actuly bothered setting up a proper dk2 output ie too green - i bet those of you with the same type of monitor havent noteced too much green !!
i cant blame them , and its not a biggie . it is after all the DevelopersKit , and noone knows if/when a new version will turn up or what will have changed.
The real thing ED missed out on is a virtual interface for use with gloves (which have also been plummiting in price from 10k a glove 10 yrs back to about the same as a DK now fot a pair)

so as it stands hotas is the way to go , i use the x52pro

now enough of this reality interuption and bach to my ship ;)

I'm interested to know how you get on as I would like to get one. First I need a GPU more powerful than a GT 740 and I aint got the spons yet. I've been using a Nexus 7 (2013) with Trinus Gyre (USB tethered) and can't do side by side at 1080 x 2160 (to 'un-squash' the image) with my current GPU so I have to use the apps Fake 3D mode which loses a lot of depth. Being new to all this malarky I'm having to learn on the fly.

I notice that when I turn my head (in fake 3D and SbyS) that the image stretches the arms and the keyboard (in the SW) when looking forward and squashes them looking sideways. On all field of view settings. Does this happen in the Rift?

Enjoy anyway. I guess you'll be gone for some time 8-)

None at the moment, but the next prototype (aka CV1) has an optional attachable headphones for optimized VR sound coordination, from what I remember. No idea about the mic though. Anyway, CV1 is bound to be released next year.

Did you mean by the image getting warped or something? I haven't seen that, or I probably just haven't noticed it yet.

that is rumour upon rumour. not that there is anything wrong with that :D

even so from what is said there it will still be a DK3 not a comercial version.
