I finally had time to try out the Imperial Hammer and it is the most satisfying fixed hardpoints IMHO.
My Python uses 3 C3 pulse and 2 C2 Imperial Hammers and it simply chews up NPCs. Henceforth I shall dub thee the "Hades' Hammer"

YESSS! HAMMER TIME! Finally 
Only the small ammo clip size causes headaches. But then, the Courier is for getting the really important stuff to its receiver. So the Hammer seems perfect for baking anything that may come in it's way.
PS Anyone else finding it a bit ... ridiculous that wing mounted weapons are installed on kind of a tablet instead of pointing straight out of the wing mounts? But then, they did such a GREAT job in terms of design that such minor details are all completely forgiven.

@Uvelius, One of these days i am going to need you to shoot me with these so I can get a baseline idea of how they perform versus normal rail guns.
