Well, the X-52 has arrived, now just got to learn how to use it!
One complication is that I'm a left-hander and I was operating my old joystick in that configuration.
I had looked, and there are no left-handed HOTAS, basically because, in the real world, there is no such thing as a left-handed aeroplane.
I can understand this and I've no real problem with that. I'm pretty versatile and I've always used my mouse right-handed, it just felt more comfortable that way.
Lots of buttons and switches on the X-52, gonna take a bit of sorting. I think I'll look at the default Elite config first and then see what needs tweaking.
I'm also thinking I might just buy myself a little Sidewinder to practice on, I don't fancy smashing up my Python while I learn the ropes with the HOTAS!

The python might actually be easier to learn on.
The sidey can be a bit twitchy as with most smaller ships, the python is responsive but not yet "nervous".
And you can boost up shields considerably, I have banged my python on numerous occasions into a station wall at full boost for various reasons, and It hasn't taken more than a ring off my shields.

Anyhoo, the training missions are great for testing control schemes, basically a free sidey in those.

Congratulations and good luck :D

I'm still learning how to handle the HOTAS. One issue is that I'm switching joystick operation from my left to my right hand, but I'm getting used to that. I have got a couple of configuration problems that I'll be bringing up in the technical help forum.
But I have successfully taken my Python out on a trip without any serious problems, including destroying an NPC pirate who thought he should have my cargo (got a few tons of rares on board at the moment).
As for docking, if anything it seems easier, using that extra HAT switch on the throttle for thruster control.....

It's my favorite thing! :D Though my HAT is on my stick as I have a Thrustmaster HOTAS. Congrats on your success!

Do you guys have any issues running X52 on Windows 10? I'm going to pick up one of these tonight, found one on Gumtree for £60 barely used, so bargain for me :D

My X-52 Pro works fine in Windows 10. I have to use the Saitek profiler to get all of the buttons working, which I did not need to use on Win 7 but all is well.

Drivers
I had some issues with the Win7 drivers in windows 10 (mouse slowness and devices lock up when hotas unpluged)
The Win10 beta drivers seem to fix this and had no issues with my X52 Pro on Windows 10.

Software
The win10 beta software still comes with unsigned drivers (same as older versions) and this causes the same issues in Windows 10 as with previous windows versions.
