What's your ship/build?

Python, A6 shields, 4 boosters, A3 scb, A7 distributor, C7 power plant, 2 medium turreted pulse, 1 large turreted pulse, 2 large gimballed pulse.

Know what I did? After flying around a CZ in my Vulture and having my Tradeconda sitting all lonely back where I left her, I thought to myself... I'm going to be grinding rep for a while, why not make the killing go faster. So I swapped everything around and got myself a Full A-Spec Python.

187 million credits later I return back to the CZ I flew my Vulture in, and found it a lot harder. I had gotten used to the speed of the Vulture. I could kill things so fast, but the damn thing looked and sounded... UGLY.

So I had to buy another damn Vulture, but I hate it SO MUCH. Which is why I'm going to try a courier.

In the last 2 updates I have noticed the AI seems to be flying their ships a lot more intelligently. Larger ships joust, smaller ships use their agility. I know this has been mentioned on other posts, but I've seen it and experienced it with my own eyes. It almost seems like the bigger ships are more agile than they should be, at least than they are for me fully A-Spec. They're turning faster than I am and I don't know how.

For this very reason, flying anything bigger than say, a Vulture, In CZ's at this point isn't good from an efficiency standpoint. My Python was rated to do over twice as much DPS as my Vulture, but it took me 3 times as long to kill them. Simply because no matter what I did, throttle in the blue, FA off, jacking that damn throttle and pulling on the stick like my life depended on it, I couldn't keep enemies in my sights, and then when I did, BAM they took off boosting and got out of my range. Pisses me off when Pythons did that to me, in my own bloody A spec Python.

My suggestion to you, try out the Vulture, you will have an easier time of it. And if I can determine that the Courier is just as good in combat, that will be my combat ship from then on.

tl;dr Traded stuff for A Spec Python which turned out to be a mistake as the AI cheats. Python doesn't work well for me in CZ's. Had to buy another crappy Vulture.

That's partly why I have turrets on there. Even making use of reverse thrust, I can't keep all 5 guns on the small ships all the time. When the swarm has something to shoot at other than me, I can take out anacondas without losing shields, but when I'm the only target, it doesn't end well.

Bigger ships seem to draw more aggro, again, don't know why, just something that was changed in the background.

Also, the bigger target you are, the easier it is to hit you. In my experience, as soon as I get into a CZ, I fly away from the group and wait a sec. I choose my faction and then choose a target on the edge of the bunch and pick it off. Rinse and repeat. It's almost like they target either what shoots at them or what's in front of them at the time. So if you keep circling around on the edge you seem to avoid a lot of the hate. Additionally as long as you do 5% damage you get credit for killing something, so really you could sit and watch one of your allies pounding away on something and jump in at the last second and claim a kill.

I love the idea of bigger ships, it's what drove me to get my 'Conda. But dog-fighting in them is a dog's breakfast. (Pun intended.)

To each their own of course. I like strafing around a target blasting the hell out of it and imagining the crew inside screaming in frustration because they can't get a good bead on me. I'm hoping the courier is going to allow me to do that. With shields comparable to a Python, it's a hell of a shield tank.

This ^

Some time ago, before I knew about Mobius and before the Vulture came out, I was asking about how some people were able to brag about taking out anacondas by themselves. I was in my asp, which had 50% more gun than the little ships and 20% more than a python. It should have been easy.

Someone mentioned turreted beams on a viper, and target the power plant. Suddenly I was able to do those assassination missions without breaking a sweat.

While doing the CG CZ this week I'm finding the same situation as many others.... my A rated Python is getting hammered, but I can stay in the CZ with my Vulture for 60-90 minutes at a time. Hope to wing up with some of you in the CZ this weekend. :)

Hmmm, my vulture is the one that gets eaten up, but my Python lasts forever. Strange...

Pretty much similar observation. Now doing the CG CZ in Imp.Courier ... can hang around more or less forever.

Which system are you delivering death in?

Also a general question to the group: Does one's combat rating have an effect on the combat rating of NPCs that spawn nearby? Starting to wonder if going up 2 ranks in the last few days is coming back to bite me.

definitely not. i have 2 different cmdrs at different ranks both doing the same CG (both using the same LI-CZ in Dakshmandi) and they're both seeing exactly the same types of enemies
