JohnLuke wrote:You probably need to have a profile selected and running. Otherwise the Saitek profiler will assign the pinky switch to clutch, I believe. I recommend making a profile that unassigns every switch that you're having trouble with.

Getting hacked off with this now.

If I run with no profile selected then the pinkie switch is not detected in game, however the scroll wheel works (but moves 1-3 tabs/subsystems in game).
If I load a profile with everything set to "unprogrammed" then the pinkie switch works but the scroll wheel isn't detected.
So, if I stick to a profile and leave everything other than the wheel up and down as unprogrammed but map those to either the default scroll up/down or to buttone (eg numpad 5 and 2) then everything I need is detected. However the scrolling using the X-52 scroll wheel still moves too many notches to be any use.
I've tried dialing down the mouse scroll wheel lines moved in control panel and that hasn't helped.

Any further ideas for getting the scrolling working as well as it does using the mouse wheel?

That's weird. In my Saitek profile the 'wheel scroll up' and 'wheel scroll down' are unassigned. In E-D I'm using them for next & previous subsystem (buttons are called x52prob17 & 18) and they work great. I roll the wheel one notch either way, and the list moves one subsystem.

It sounds like you're doing everything right. I don't know why it's not working.

Have you tried plugging the X-52 into a different USB port just to see?

Hopefully someone else will chime in with other ideas.

Maybe it's different on the pro version?

I'll keep playing with it once I get the computer back. Darn kids and their homework!

My comment about the pro was because of the buttons that JohnLuke quoted (x52prob17 & 18). I've got the standard x52 and the control panel for it doesn't have buttons labeled 17 & 18 (amongst other numbers in the sequence).

I tried your profile anyway - no joy.

My control panel doesn't show those buttons either, but that's what E-D calls them. On my control panel the thumbwheel is shown as red bars on either side of button #19. They scroll up and down when you move them.

Forgive the 5-year old kid's quality drawing on this image to show you what I'm talking about: ;)

Hope that helps.

Thanks JohnLuke, I forgive the drawing. Never been my thing either, as you can see from the way my little applications look :)
So with the X52 there's just the one wheel and it's the one where the button is '32' as per your picture.

I've just been through the instructions here on how to properly install the win10 beta drivers. Still no joy.
I guess I'll just think of a different button setup.

EDIT: Corrected the link to instructions

Just to say that I noticed that there are new beta drivers for the X52 and X52 Pro dated the 18th. Not tried them yet but it might help if anyone continues to have issues. ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/beta/Windows10/

I'm still on W7 and I'm using the 7.0.27.13 drivers with my X-52.
I did have a few issues setting up, but I've got it sorted now.
Using a profile fixed it for me, I've got the scroll wheel (32) mapped to page-up and page-down and I use it for sensor zoom, works fine.
Any others that didn't work as expected I set to unprogrammed and that seems to have sorted them.
I've also got the thumb slider working now, as forward and reverse thrusters for manouevring.
The only think on the X-52 that I don't use for anything is the mini-joystick on the throttle.
It's been a bit of a learning curve (especially as I had been using a left-handed joystick!) but things are getting easier now.
