Yup me too :)
More to come.
Did get my new phone today with the gear vr so have been playing with that :)

I have to admit this has been my first vr experience since a fair event in 1990 (I was 9) so yeah this is a lot better.
I was already 80% on board just from the tech hype but having tested this now knowing how much better if would get with head tracking but just games on this cell phone it's already pretty amazing.

It definitely has its uses for mobile gaming Imo.
Not sure I would use it on a commute though.

And it's the first time I have truly enjoyed a 3d anything :D

Max 1 meter. :(

Bugger.

Damn, I have a large screen in my 'play room' that I would like to have head tracking for. Use a PSEye mod and IR LEDs for use at the desk, but it isn't able to work with the distance I am from the big screen, something like this could have been an alternative. Ah well, I'll wait for full VR :D

The new 2016 line of UHD TVs are actually the first line of UHD TV's I would recommend buying unless you are aware that you are an "early adopter".

I don't find the size of the text the issue, its the colour. Orange does nothing for my clarity and I end up with it blurring too much.

I agree the orange isnt the best decision for hud color.
But it can also depend on your displays pixel structure and capabilities, again orange is an odd choice.

Take my older 6 bit panel monitor, the red and greens weren't very well matched so this got quite blurry.

I had also tweaked fov setting a bit to about 72 degrees, when horizons came out I had to reset back to default just to be able to read the new HUD elements. The pixels just wasn't there to render the tiny letters on a fullhd display, regardless of color scheme.

With my new 3440x1440 screen the difference is immediate , and due to the aspect of the screen its just as tall as my old 24" monitor and I'm seated 30cm further away from it.

Also I'm not so sure it's unusable in a couch/big screen setting.

I don't see why this has to be attached to THE screen and if you have some kind of sofa TV tray or whatnot for it (like in my photo earlier) I'm thinking of attaching it to that and really the rest should be a matter of calibration.

Now you might have to reset if the device moves or even recalibrate but it shouldn't be too impossible at least for my setup.

This is one thing I will be testing once I get mine and I intend to report on it.

Ups states delivery tomorrow so we will see.
Tobii is apparently Swedish and I live only 7 hours from Stockholmso it's not at all impossible.
Here's hoping.
I'm going to go play lands end now :)

Hmm
Just read a comment on the YouTube vid and supposedly Max screen size is 27".
Well that's just point less then and will be returned for sure.

Heck my smallest screen is 34" ...

I use a 34" curved monitor myself - but rather suspect that the eye tracker will just have a dead zone at the outer edges. I'm hoping that as my eyes track to the edge the center of focus will shift so it still works. The HUD elements are still inside the boundaries, though, so that at least should be fine. I'll also be interested in seeing how the device mounts on a curve - may have to use my sons 3D printer to build a shim. Best Christmas gift I ever gave him - he keeps winding up printing cockpit devices for me! (Keyboard stands, joystick shims, etc., etc.) :D

R.e. screen resolution and colors; I use green for the main color. Much easier on the eyes. Lots of posts here and at the "other forum" on how to change the HUD colors, including tools to play around until you get what you want. In fact, I use green for the whole environment - my keyboard lighting is green, my command line screens are set for green on black, so the trade data on the side screen matches.

Now if I can just get the wife to stop calling my home office computer the "spaceship..."

No worries - I'm fortunate in that I actually had the spare cash available, left over from a trip. I'll play around with it and provide an honest review. It appears to be useful, but folks are raising some interesting questions. If you've any in particular, please let me know - and I'm pretty sure (though I can only speak for myself) that we'll attempt to find the answers!
