I just now had a down and out with my wing mate.

I am having trouble with my Horizons DLC that I bought on Steam

He has to have a go at me constantly and makes me feel like a total loser all the time or is it wanker? Is a wanker and a loser the same thing? I don't know. But when I am in need of help someone that badgers me about how I talk or how I list out a problem or how I answer a question really sends me over the edge. Is Bollocks, Bollox, Ball axes? is that the same as "F*** Y**"? I don't know.

Right now I am beyond wound up over the BS I went through with Xcom 2 and now Horizons and the last thing I need is someone telling me how messed up I am

You know, I don't know you that well, but you don't seem at all "messed up" from your postings on here. In fact, I think many of us quite enjoy them.

As for the Horizons problem, I think I ordered it from FDev's site, and it gave me a key, which I put into Steam, even though I originally bought Elite through Steam. This sounds like the reverse of what you did though, correct me if I'm wrong. I will say that if I follow in-game links to the store for paint jobs and bobbleheads now, they will be unusable in my game. If I go directly to FDev's website, everything works great.

Again, I think you may have the reverse situation, but my experiences illustrate that there seems to be a store-disconnect between Steam and FDev. I think it may actually be something of a login credentials issue. I think Steam tries to tie everything to your Steam ID, and FDev tries to tie everything to your email address.

Having said that, I think I had the option to download horizons either from the FDev site (though I remember navigating to that part being a bit labyrinthine) or Steam itself. Maybe try uninstalling and coming at it from the other direction, to see if it will end up talking to the right set of servers for authentication? If you install from FDev's site, and that works, you can put Horizons into Steam even without a steam code. You can launch just about any program that exists from it, and get the overlay capabilities, even if it may not integrate with achievements and all that. (Elite has no steam achievements anyway.)

As to Horizons I am not exactly sure what downloads or not. I run ED with no issues. When I bought the pass I assumed it was a download so I logged out of ED and went to my Steam page for ED expecting to see it listed there and was gonna click it to download. But there was no listing. I am thinking WTH? Then I saw a line stating Horizons Season Pass DLC ..... installed 2/5/16. So I think it was always in the download and the pass was just unlocked. Either that or it auto updated and I didn't even notice it as I have my Steam set up to allow background downloading while I play.

I checked the FD site and is shows that I bought the season pass dlc, it also shows that I redeemed the key linking it to FD from Steam. The issue is as you say "the steam servers are not talking to the FD servers" Personally; if I bought the DLC and they know I own the base game as I redeemed that key, doesn't follow that the DLC, being an integrated part of the main game, is also a legitament item?

With me, and maybe I am simple minded, but things either work as intended or not. I am willing to work out a solution but when all I get is silence from Steam and FD I get pretty agitated. It was the same way wil Xcom 2. It didn't work and there was no support from Steam or from 2K/Firaxis. So the best way to get rid of the trash is to toss in the can and drag it to the curb.

Thanks for the post. I was just about to go get Horizons using my Steam account since I can pay for it in my currency. Let me know if you managed to resolve this.
I first bought ED through steam, then linked my Steam account with my FDev account. Now I play the non-steam version, which I downloaded from the FDev site. I plan to do the same with Horizons. Get the key from steam, register with FDev then play the FDev version.

Unfortunately I can't play at all now

Horizons is on a "redeem key" endless loop and ED refuses to let me log back in on Steam. I can log into my account no problem at the FD page but to play the game it insists I put in a verification code and I've done that 13 times, yes 13 different emails with different codes and it simply won't let me log into my acct on the FD launcher.

So is it Steam, is it FD, is it fate? I don't know But as I said in another post,

Maybe they finally managed to get the data entry intern to replace the old one. And now that intern has left and they're waiting for the next batch of student interns?

Yesterday I needed some shooting action to compensate for my rank grind, so I parked cutter and took Tiddles the Vulture to a HiRES in Exioce.

I got rammed to death by a cutter.

Had a wing with John Fry, was good fun. Was about to have an evening playing when we had a power cut. Oh ffs. I'd been reading a book by nightlights for an hour before I realised next doors lights were on. Goddamned fuse.

Then the cat was sick on my lap. I'd only been out the shower, dry and dressed for 10 mins.

I decided reading was safer.
