Oh yea - no one replied anything regards the PowerPlay factions. Which one do I take to get some bonus on exploration?

If you defect,they will hunt you down. If you leave ALD, no action will be taken.

If you leave and change powers, you would be considered "Hostile" in ALD space. It's an extremely empty threat, though. You will have the same PP interdictions as always, and you are free to dock in stations with no additional risk. I dock in 'hostile' space quite often.... it's no different than being in friendly space.

So does this mean I can leave ALD, chose another faction - scan tons of stuff, come back and get my rank to rank II and get my bonus?

If I then drop whatever PP i take and go back to ALD - everything should be as before right?

Yes, and yes.

Don't forget that to get a bonus, you'll have to wait to turn in your exploration data until you reach whatever PP level you're looking to achieve.

Oh yea - that's a given. I was just thinking of getting Rank 2 or 3 because I can get those in like an hour by just shooting down NPC ships in hostile territory

Aside from bragging rights and in, IMO, insignificant increase in some missions what is to be gained from being Elite in anything in the game?

I am sorry to say that even at the level of enjoyment Elite brings to me it is, in fact, no different from any other game possibly even less so.

An increase in any level be it PP, Navy Rank or the Elite status ranks gets the player what?

Seems to me the reward is in no way commensurate with the effort involved.

How about a ship class that is only available to an Elite Pilot? A special issue combat ship, the ultimate trader and even a really long haul explorer to be received for free as soon as the pilot hits Elite.

Yes I know about founders world as far as discounts go and early on in the game when the player has no cash then all those discounts are really needed, but when we are pushing the limits to Elite status in anything, cash is usually not an issue. Not to mention founders world is a pretty long haul for some people.

Just my thoughts here as rewards are generally bland and everything is really just a grind to me.

Yea i know - that's all true... I've come to a point where I have all the ships I want and there's nothing I need credits for any more. So I decided to go out and explore a bit since i'm "close" to elite.

It's either that or stop playing completely. 2.1 is not even close so I'll be jumping and scanning and scanning and jumping until then.

But yes - it would be amazing if Elite members got some amazing unique high-end ships in a category they're elite in.

So combat Elite would get some imba frigate, Elite traders get a huge hauler and Elite explorers get a ship that, for example, pushes 40+ lightyears per jump.

I have been only to one short exploration trip. I am trading or smuggling or whatever and I am still scanning all that it is worth. So I do not get bored.

Ok I have not played for a couple of weeks now but because I have a lot of work to do...
