Search Youtube for HIP 10716 and Cubeo for how-tos

Already familiar with it, 35% Duke now so it'll take a couple of days to the King. On the plus side it generates an ok amount of credits, but it is slow and quite boring to do. Having two screens on the desk helps a bit, can watch YouTube or something while cycling through game modes.

I would like to get that Elite status on trading too, but that is not done in a couple of days as I have 51% left to do. I do have a Cutter already which helps, but I've been flying only Cutter for the past month so I wouldn't want to get back to it just after a couple of days.

So if the grind only gets worse after the next patch, any idea how bad it is going to be then? On the other hand I do have a couple of months to get that Elite rank before Engineers hit live, so I probably hit that goal before the patch, and after that I think I do not "need" to grind exploration and combat to Elite, those can happen when they happen. I understood that one Elite status is enough for the Founders world.

One thing I've noticed in HIP 10716 is that when I have 15-20 missions on my list, I don't get new ones offered nearly as often as with an empty mission list.

I want to thank everyone that posted with help and tips.

Since Friday when I managed to get my Rear Admiral rank, I popped back to my Cutter and went back to work on my Trade Rank. Sunday evening, I was at 60% and pulled in over 100 million credits.

Now I am taking a break from trading, but will pick it back up later this week. Based on these numbers, the last 40% should mean about another 200 million in profit. I should be very close to a Billion in assets by then.

Oh, and there are some real stable trade routes out there. 3 cutters pulling 2100 tonnes every 15 minutes did NOT collapse the route I found. Yes, there were some Fluctuation, but we didn't kill it. And we saw a few other Cutter Commanders pulling from the Buying station, so it was a lot more than we did.

Had the same issue, and did some "Planetary SAR"/"One of our pilots is missing" missions to break the monotony. Basically, I took 1-2 of these missions, preferably from the faction that is not aligned with the empire, went out, collected escape pods until the missions failed or my ship was full, returned to base, and then used the escape pods to accept and fulfill the SAR/missing pilots missions of the Empire-aligned factions. As long as you stick with a "accept ONE mission-change game mode-fulfill mission-change game mode-accept next mission" cycle and stick to high-paying ones (200,000 CR or more), you get maximum rank gain from these missions. About 2-3 pods for one percent at Prince.

I also got my promotion to Entrepreneur after completing one of the SAR missions, so these look to be counting towards your trade rank. This does not make sense in my eyes, but I am not complaining...

So, I have a question... in HIP 10716, what do you do about the ever-decreasing reputation with the owner of Morgan's Depot? (As they also own the one that's getting annihilated constantly). I went from just barely Allied to the lower side of unfriendly, and I assume it'll keep getting worse the longer I do Empire missions to destroy everything.

I would take some of their missions to help maintain a stable rep with them, but they only offer 1 mission for every 25 of the Empire's... not very likely I'll be able to keep it up. Will this base start denying my docking requests eventually? (I've actually *never* been hated or whatever by any faction in the entire time I've been playing Elite... odd... must get new shoes dirty at some point!)

So yeah, is there anything to do about that, or just not worry about it? I also have not yet killed myself to get rid of their bounty... should I do that from time to time?

Uhm, yup. Thanks!

I did a couple of early ranks there, they'll still let you dock but it'll say you're under attack (you probably aren't) and you won't be able to use a docking computer, that's about it. One time there was someone there attacking me, but I didn't actually notice until I had already landed, so I just entered the hangar and the missiles were exploding harmlessly on the doors above me. The attacker was gone the next time I logged in.

Groovy, thanks for the warning! As long as they let me dock, I'm sure I can get in & out without taking too much damage, my ship is like an extension of my hand! :)

I was flying a DBS, nice & quick and agile, but... it has fairly weak shields & the landing gear takes forever to deploy. I have fortunately swapped it out with a Courier already, good shields, (meh) agility with just the right amount of drift (for me), and exceptional docking properties. It makes for the best 'upside down > flip-flop' landings I've ever done!

Thanks again!

Yep, when you get to the lowest rank possible, 'Hostile', they deny you the use of docking computer, that's all. You can still dock.
So no effect on doing the missions, I did not even need to dock as I did the missions in a shieldless Sidewinder with only 2 missile launchers, which is overkill as one launcher is enough. Fly to the base, fire 4 missiles, kamikaze boost to the local Trump-tower and re-spawn at the base where you got the missions, complete them and you are done. Repeat only a few hundred times. :P

Do not worry about it, they will still let you dock. You will not be able to use a docking computer, and if you buzz one of the Goliaths hovering around the base, it will start firing missiles at you, and keep on firing even after you have landed and entered the hangar. The fire only stops once you log off and log in again.

I also have not yet killed myself to get rid of their bounty... should I do that from time to time?

That would be a waste of money, you are only wanted by that minor faction. Getting scanned by the cops at stations that do not belong to that minor faction will give the usual "we are done, move along" message. Just let it pile up, and either do the suicidewinder thing once you are done, or just let it expire.

What I do recommend is not dallying. I recently watched the first "road to engineers beta" session, and MB made some remarks about surface installations getting guard ships to deal with "rocket spamming".
