Never heard of this until I saw the banner in the newsletter:

It uses the SteamVR API for E:D, so expect at least the same issues that the SteamVR has with E:D.

Just keep a couple of things in mind ...
- It's a DevKit, and not really a consumer product, and there are many pages about this (like this one from 2-3 months ago)
- It's lower resolution (960x1080), although higher refresh rate at 120Hz (but limited to 60Hz actual input, at least for now)

I considered buying one myself, but I haven't found anyone using it with Elite and not having to tweak the heck out of it (and recalibrate regularly). After all, it's really for early adopter, open source hackers, not so much end-consumers, so do not remotely expect a consistent experience. If I had more time, I'd get into it myself, and probably code for it too.

Don't get me wrong, it is amazing for developers. If you have a lot of patience, it might be right for you. I think the input limitation of 60Hz is its biggest drawback for now, even though the lenses are capable of 120Hz refresh. Then there are the tracking issues that have been reported as well.

If I had more free time, I'd probably get one. But that's the same with a lot of open source I used to play with. But I prefer having something that is fully integration tested and supported, not changing and moving from one day to the next.

Cheers theBS. Yah, I think I'll stick to one of the consumer versions. Can't make my mind up though. Pro and cons both ways. I think I'll be upgrading the pc shortly, and wait till Christmas before deciding on HMD. But let's see... ;)
