Thought an infographic regarding the new AI would be helpful when deciding how to deal with them:

Earlier in the FD design office
Designer 1 - "So, what should we do for 2.1?"
Designer 2 - "I know, let's put in a mechanic that forces people to use every fricking piece of equipment in the game"
:P
Basically how I feel. That's great for people that have played 1,000+ hours, and can put in 20-60 hours/week.

Me? While I like the added challenges (again, was so tired of the spinning, 'fish in a barrel' enemy, even left some to be), I just couldn't believe what I saw ... and how they insta-killed me. Had to turn it off, cannot afford it at only 20-30 hours/month (and 30 hours/month is a "good month" of gaming for me).

Made the mistake of taking on a 'Competent' Python ... in a (now) largely A-spec Python (-1 class A power, but enough to power everything). Big mistake. Big mistake! Even got on his tail first, and then it was over 5 seconds later.

or if your me and barley competent in combat and in an ASP Explorer you run from everything and combat is avoided, I am not going to even attempt to up my combat rank, I wish it was lower already.
It has always been a low priory now I am glad it was. :)

Now I fly out into deep space and look at the view. 8-)

maybe time for re-role

I always prided myself on being able to go into Combat Zones with a Vulture and, later, Python, and being able to pick my battles and not be stupid, including knowing how to get alone with a combatant, never get into a fight with 3 enemies, and even know how to test 2 and see if it's plausible before bugging out. I was never killed prior. Yes, sometimes as low as 13% hull. Sometimes with my canopy busted, one time with less than 30 seconds of air left (last time I used a "D" class Life Support component). I took those chances.

But now ... now it's impossible, even outside Combat Zones.

One cannot choose the battle, they choose it now ... sometimes you're dead before you can even move (happened to me).
One cannot flee, anyone will catch you ... Vipers are now tough for a Python, so stick to Sidewinders and Eagles, and only Expert and lower (learned this really quick).
If they can rapid fire any large weapon, forget it, just give up right there ... don't bother (that's what happened this last time, I finally gave up after 3 seconds).

I'm ranked Expert, without trying. The only time I did combat was for CGs, and I've only done a few now. I used to never run unless there was an Anaconda with another ship ... sometimes an Anaconda on its own if it was Master or higher.

But I used to eat any Expert (or lower) Anaconda NPC on its own for breakfast in my Python, FDLs and FDS's too. Now, I cannot even handle a Python, unless he's a real novice, so he won't have much Engineering junk.

Until they hit you before you make it back to cash in. :x

I got hit just outside Maia pretty hard, and barely made it back to Obsidian Orbital with barely 30% hull. Understood I immediately ran, didn't bother trying to "wound first," and they were within 1km the whole time, with me kicking off chaff, and I finally got the Frameshift Drive to kick in with the enemy Python's 17 factor just as they were really hurting.

I only turn to face Vipers (if there is only 1), or Sidewinders and Eagles (no more than 2 total), and they are Expert or lower. Will not chance it with anything else, or higher ranked. My Python will last long enough to Frame out with most enemies, sands an Anaconda or a really high Python, if I immediately run and kick the Frame shift up, despite the factor delay.

I'll go through all Cell Banks and the corresponding Heat Sinks (if the first cell even works in time) as I run, but I'll make it.

I'm waiting for the "all clear," because exploring in my fairly spec'd out Python (dropped to 19-20ly, instead of 21-23ly because of the biggest sized, A-spec distributor and thrusters), and is now too dangerous to have anything less.

The nerf went in yesterday, at least for me on Central Standard Time. I took down an elite FDL without losing shields. The cops did come and help, but I had him on 40% hull before they showed up, so they may have saved me some repairs, but I had him.

If I see an anaconda, or a wing with stuff bigger than asps, I will probably run now, but the slaughterhouse is over, I think.

The pew-pew-pew, no shields, pew-pew Hull 8%, and boost your dead before the Cap is discharged still around, Pirates still killing looking for Cargo where there is none. Yes there is less but some instant death ships are still around. Congrats to FD for cleaning it up.

Went to a Hi Res, only real issue I had was with an Elite Conda which seemed to be able to spam copious quantities of chaff and SCBs, everything else was comfortably more challenging that 2.0.
