OK, so that first delivery mission ended in another insta-death and now I have no insurance for my Python. I'll take a disposable Sidewinder to try and make it to my parked Cobra but right now another six-month hiatus is looking pretty good. It's been one step forward and three steps back lately.

I literally had no issues ... until 2.1. And even with 2.1.02, the RNG/chance is literally against all odds. I get on, avoid everyone for a few hours while I mine, then get close to any station, and I'm dead.

Is it just us guys with Pythons? I'm A-spec for the most part. Shields and Booster not making a dent it seems.

I'm seriously considering dropping back to a Viper Mark IV. At least if I get killed, the insurance will be 1/10th as much. I'm lucky I'm able to afford 15M down. But another 15M and I'll be in trouble.

At Mehet doing the CG, tried all types of RES harder to stay long periods in the HAZ now especially when the condas and pythons are ram happy still in the top 10% so nice payday coming.

Spent the afternoon doing missions in the Python, must have done 10 maybe 15 missions, only got interdicted twice. Once was a master FDL which I dispatched post haste, the second was a FAS which I just did the boost boost jump away from. Apart from that no issues.

Now in a mining kitted Cobra MKIV looking for Praseodymium (or at least I would if I hadn't gone all the way to the ring before realising I'd forgotten to buy any limpets :P )

Did some tests, and you cannot traverse even at full boost of a Cobra Mk III, but you can shoot a cargo canister in there. Only travels about 4.2km before it slows to a stop. Retrieval was not an option, obviously.

the erros means the you dont have the Horizons DLC installed.(or that you aren't running it , if you have it) below 24 km on any landable planet, would load the orbital flight mode

Nope. I've lost Asps and FASs as well as Pythons this week. Check out threads like this one on the official forums: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthrea ... 889&page=7

Page after page of people losing all kinds of ships including A-rated Anacondas. It's nothing to do with what you're flying.

Well that was quick, first asteroid gave me what I needed, I don't know if they've buffed mining since I last tried it, but there was shed loads of stuff, and you get materials as well.

Don't think I'll be taking it up as a job, but at least it wasn't the grind I expected.

Yeah, I was reading various threads. They all have a common theme.

People who wanted more of a combat challenge are getting it
People are favoring combat ships with lower insurance, like Vultures that are <<1M to replace
People agree that being in a general ship (e.g., Python, etc...) in 2.1+ is like being in a cargo ship (e.g., T6/7/9) in earlier releases

I honestly think 2.1.x is now basically a combat simulator, that provides a good challenge. If you're doing anything else, just don't get interdicted. I was thinking about kitting up a Vulture and heading into some CZ. If I get killed at least it's only about 10-15% of the insurance cost of my Python. I don't see myself doing much else at this point.

I have Horizons, and have that client running except when I get hit by the -1m bug and need to teleport myself out of the planet again. The problem is different: Maia B is the secondary stellar component of the Maia system, and it is a Black Hole

Being able to land on a black hole would not be very realistic. However, getting away again after approaching a black hole to within 24 km is not realistic, either.
