Finally made it to Maia. But when I landed on Daniell's Progress, no repair facility. Oh well.
Got my Meta-alloy and mine launchers and soon to head over to the RNGIneer.

Edit: Just hit Farseer Inc. unlocked the RNGineer but when I sold about 3mil worth of Exploration data the acces level didn't budge. Guess have to wait for an update like the explorer rank.

Some not so mad science: Selling exploration data to the engineer Felicity Farseer pays twice: You get the usual pay and rank increase for your exploration grade, and it further unlocks the available upgrades. I was at maybe 20% of level 2 for this engineer, 2.2 million in exploration data gave 6% at Ranger, and with a single grade 1 upgrade, I now have level 4 access.

At the same time, my rebuy went down from about 741k to just 524k. This worries me slightly, as it might indicate that I may have an ASP without an FSD after the next insurance screen.

Has anybody lost an engineer-modified ship yet? Does the insurance cover the modifications, or do you have to pull the lever on the slot machine again?

Decided that life in 2.1 was unacceptably tedius so I traded my Python for an A-rated FdL. Not that impressed, and have decided that I should have gone for a huge multicannon after all - despite loads of testing in a RES before I came back to OOM space. Which means another 15-hop trip into LYR space to save over a million on the purchase price. Whoever thought of putting such a tiny engine in the FdL needs shooting.
