Greetings space people!
I've been playing video games for a long time. Recently it's been EVE Online for about three months. It's a decent enough game but, quite frankly, in many ways the inmates have taken over the asylum. Oh, you can play without getting ganked every few minutes if you know what you are doing, but a player more comfortable with PVE gets called a "carebear" in a dismissive fashion and the noob is told that his duty is to go out and get destroyed for the entertainment of the veteran players. It's actually a pretty good game if what you want is all out PVP, but ...
Anyway, I saw a reference to ED and gave it a try. I rarely play EVE anymore. I don't have any fancy joystick or VR, just a controller. Maybe later.
I could see that ED was in the early days of development as opposed to EVE, and I wondered if it was doomed to be taken over by the griefers as EVE seems to have been. After all, it's something of a sandbox. It doesn't cost much to replace a ship or get rid of a bounty, why not? Then I saw "solo play". Aha, somewhere to go to be left in peace but still do some fighting (against NPCs). Still, I'd prefer to have the chance to play with others ....
And then I saw Mobius. I read the original thread and thought "This sounds great. No PVP unless you want to. People to play with if you want to. No requirement to play there exclusively, or even at all." So here I am.
I've only been around a couple of weeks and currently fly a Cobra III, equipped for combat but I do a lot of missions that don't require huge cargo capacity to accumulate credits. I haven't bought Horizons yet, I thought I'd wait to see how the basic game goes.
I look forward to seeing you guys in the game. Is there any "best" area to meet people?
