Coming out of High Wake into a dangerous position

Postby DarkMere » Mon Jun 05, 2017 5:52 am

Wondering if anyone else has encountered the following situation?

Twice for me, when travelling from my home station to one of the engineers, when I hop into the very close binary star system called '64 Piscium'. Visually it looks like I go right through the smaller star as I come out of high wake, before ending up at the traditional looking distance and position from the larger star, but too close to star I just went through. I find myself overheating very quickly and on both occasions have only escaped with something like 20% to 25% damage to the hull, and often with one or two systems wiped out. Thankfully only the docking computer last time.

I thought about reporting a bug the fist time it happened, but thought I would ask if anyone else has had the same first. Maybe its not a bug and just one of the dangers in the universe?

Usually, something has pushed it into the way, i.e. A black hole

Hello Commander, I know exactly the system your talking about, and in fact i have several binary systems bookmarked with dangerous exits.

This is a peril of space and not a bug., I mark my binary bookmark with - "Binary Warning "

That way i now when jumping in to be ready with heat sinks and clean undies...

Thank you for clarifying that for me. I shall bookmark such binary's and navigate around them.

as a side note,

When ever your jumping into a system your unfamiliar with. Or a route your not familiar with you can get an idea if there are binaries along your route.

If you go to your Galaxy map and put it on realistic.. zoom all the way into the star along your path. Begin tto rotate slowy 360 verticaly and horizontally.. You will notice most stars are stationary... but if you look at 64 Piscium there is a faint wobble. That wobble is the second star you see upon rotating. With practice you can determine your entry trajectory and if you should be concerned. IF the wobble is in line with your entry path.. you stand a risk of comming in on top of the binary.

I learned this from youtube here..
